Dr. Gamze Erdogan Erten
Postdoctoral Researcher
She completed her Ph.D. in the Mining Engineering Department at Eskisehir Osmangazi University (Turkey) in September 2021. During her Ph.D. studies, she spent a year as a visiting researcher at the Centre for Computational Geostatistics at the University of Alberta.
Her thesis, titled ‘Estimation of Geospatial Data Using Machine Learning Algorithms,’ introduced innovative methodologies utilizing machine learning algorithms and their hybrid approaches for geospatial data estimation. She specializes in machine learning applications in mining engineering, particularly in mineral resource estimation.
She joined the GeoCloud research group in March 2023. Her current research focuses on optimizing well control, including the number of injection wells, their locations, and injection rates for carbon capture and storage (CCS) using surrogate model-based deep reinforcement learning.
