Reine Akchr
MSc Student
Reine is a graduate student at the University of Alberta with a degree in petroleum engineering. She previously worked with Future Energy Systems, as an undergraduate research intern where she analyzed petrophysical datasets and developed computational tools to evaluate geothermal reservoir properties in Alberta. She is now focused on advancing geothermal energy development in Saskatchewan. Her project builds on the DEEP initiative by assessing the potential of Precambrian crystalline basement rocks, which are hotter but have extremely low permeability. Through integration of well datasets, hydraulic fracturing results, and thermal hydraulic mechanical modeling, her research will provide a systematic feasibility assessment of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) in Canada’s basement formations.
